Fuss & O’Neill was contracted to provide engineering services associated with the removal and replacement of one 2,000-gallon diesel underground storage tank (UST) and associated fuel piping with a new UST and new fuel system piping.

Our work was broken into three tasks:

• UST Replacement and Piping Replacement Design
• Contract Administration
• CT DEEP Soil Sampling and UST Notification

For Task 1, we prepared stamped construction drawings and specifications for the installation and removal of the UST. Additionally, we prepared plans for work associated with piping to the generator day tank.

Task 2 included site visits and review of contractor submittals and shop drawings.

For Task 3, we provided on-site observation services (tank closure, excavation, and removal/disposal of the UST), post-excavation site investigation (soil and groundwater sampling to ensure there was no petroleum release) and preparation of regulatory agency filings/notifications).
