WaterFire Arts Center

Fuss & O’Neill provided environmental, civil, landscape architecture, and hazardous building materials services to support the $13.75 million redevelopment of a former U.S. Rubber/Uniroyal facility into the WaterFire Arts Center. The building serves as WaterFire’s headquarters and multi-use arts center.

We provided comprehensive services including pre-purchase due diligence, project financing support, full design, permitting, and construction oversight. Environmental and civil design were integrated into a single development plan to expedite permitting and to allow remediation and construction activities to occur concurrently.

Environmental activities included underground storage tank removal, PCB remediation, hazardous building materials abatement, and design of a site-wide cap to facilitate re-use of the historic property. Site design and landscape architecture services were integrated to provide a campus that included parking, an outdoor maintenance area, stormwater treatment, and an outdoor plaza and entertainment venue.
