Fuss & O’Neill provided engineering and construction administration services required to cap the City of Woonsocket’s landfill and transform it to a multi-use recreational park.

Fuss & O’Neill prepared several site layout and design alternatives for the closure and reuse of the former landfill as a City park. We conducted investigations and environmental risk analyses at this 24-acre site (closed a geomembrane cap system required by RIDEM) and prepared landfill closure and monitoring plans and permit applications to obtain required authorizations for construction.

The final design included the construction of irrigated soccer fields, a three-hole pitch-and-putt golf course, crushed stone parking areas, a full-service concession stand, a boat launch, and a bike path. Fuss & O’Neill utilized our multidisciplinary capabilities to complete the environmental investigations and provide geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering expertise to deliver this project to the City.
