Pump Station and Sewers

Fuss & O’Neill replaced a water main and sewer force main elements on a replacement bridge situated just downstream from the old crossing.

Fuss & O’Neill designed the replacement water and sewer plan alignments and profiles and permitted this utility work through the Department of Environmental Conservation. The pump station was evaluated and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) were specified to reduce motor starts, which were numerous during morning hours. The VFD retrofits adjust flow rates through the new force-main piping. The original gate and backflow valves were also replaced in the drywell as part of this project.

Additionally, approximately 1,300 linear feet of gravity sewer and water were replaced due to the different bridge approach geometry. The sewer-shed included residential, apartments, and a small college.
