To redevelop and revitalize downtown Holyoke, the City engaged Fuss & O’Neill to perform pre-demolition hazardous material surveys at more than 60 abandoned commercial and residential properties.

Initially, we collected background data from city and state offices concerning historical environmental conditions. As part of our assessments, we performed an environmental sample collection of suspected hazardous materials, including lead-based paints and asbestos. We prepared reports to outline findings at each site, including options for remediation and cost estimates for management of waste.

Inspection – Structural inspections and coordination of various City departments ensured personnel safety during on-site investigations.

Reporting – To ensure that final reporting would be appropriate to incorporate into bid specifications, workshops were conducted with City staff.
