Piscitelli Cranberry Bogs Restoration

Located at the interface of coastal and agricultural resources, the Piscitelli Bogs Wetland Restoration Project explores the potential for wetland restoration and infrastructure resiliency in the face of rising sea levels and climate change.

Fuss & O’Neill, working in partnership with MADER, evaluated the potential wetland restoration opportunity at the retired Piscitelli Bogs cranberry farm. Located adjacent to Onset Bay, the farm experiences regular tidal influence and impact from tidal surge. Under threat from advancing sea level, the site was identified as an ideal candidate for intertidal wetland restoration. Consideration was also given to exiting infrastructure that is subject to coastal erosion.

This 30-acre site had once been used for commercial agriculture operation. It is a combination of salt marsh and freshwater wetlands.
