Merrit Parkway Multi-Use Trail Feasibility Study

Fuss & O’Neill prepared a planning study to explore the feasibility of a multi-use trail along the entire length of the Merritt Parkway. The study was initiated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and major components include an initial inventory of landscape, cultural, and environmental resources, a preliminary assessment of potential environmental impacts, and an extensive public and stakeholder outreach.

The report documented the methods and findings of the feasibility study, which synthesized the information that was collected and presented the conceptual trail layout proposed by the CTDOT project team. The report describes the existing resources and a preliminary assessment of potential environmental impacts, and is being used by CTDOT to evaluate the feasibility of a multi-use trail and to provide the basis for a potential future environmental impact assessment pursuant to the Connecticut Environmental Policy Act (CEPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
