Working with the developer on this project, Fuss & O’Neill provided structural engineering services in support of the conversion of this historic mill into condominiums.

An extensive inspection and testing program was performed to assess the condition of the building and determine the feasibility for reuse. Significant repairs to the concrete framing, specifically the roof slab and exterior walls, were required because of years of neglect and freeze-thaw damage. Since the building was not capable of resisting required seismic design loads, several alternative strengthening methods were evaluated to determine the least obtrusive and most cost-effective solution. Repair and strengthening methods have been extensively evaluated and coordinated with the developer to identify approaches that maintain and complement the historic nature of the building.
