I-89 over White River and VT Route 107

Fuss & O’Neill is providing engineering services associated with the rehabilitation of two existing six-span 917-foot long steel stringer interstate bridges with concrete abutments and piers.

An in-depth bridge inspection utilizing drones was conducted to determine the extent and locations of the required repairs, which determined the need for a deck replacement. The anticipated repairs include diaphragm, lateral bracing, expansion joint, and splice repairs, as well as abutment and pier concrete repairs. Maintenance of traffic alternatives were studied in a comprehensive report to determine the most appropriate traffic control measures. Maintenance of traffic is complicated by on and off ramps adjacent to the bridges. The report determined that highway crossovers with phasing to maintain ramp traffic will provide the most desirable method of maintaining traffic during construction.
