Fuss & O’Neill was retained by the NHDOT to address the five red-listed bridges located near Exit 4 on Interstate 293 (I-293). All of the bridges were found to be structurally deficient. The roadway had insufficient lane shoulder widths and a substandard horizontal alignment that presented safety concerns.

We provided the engineering for the full replacement of four bridges and the rehabilitation of one bridge. Two lanes of traffic were maintained throughout construction, which necessitated widening the roadway and bridges 40 feet. This allowed for correcting the horizontal alignment and additional width for improved merging/diverging movements at both Exits 4 and 5 southbound.
