Expansion of Hartford Hospital’s Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation (CESI)

The Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation (CESI) is a world-renowned teaching facility on Hartford Hospital’s main campus. Fuss & O’Neill provided site engineering support for the design, permitting, and construction of an addition to the building, all the while ensuring that hospital operations were not disrupted.

As a subconsultant to Tecton Architects, Fuss & O’Neill provided civil engineering services for the design, permitting, and construction phases of the project. The proposed building addition occupied the majority of the site and included a tunnel providing vehicular access to the street. Fuss & O’Neill designed the site utilities, which were routed through the tunnel and required relocating an existing sewer main.

We worked closely with the Project Team and Hartford Hospital staff so that construction of the 25,000 square foot addition did not disrupt hospital operations.
