Electrical Study and Repairs – Bristol Community Collage

Fuss & O’Neill was contracted by Bristol Community College (BCC) to prepare a study to assess the existing campus electrical distribution at their main campus. After the study, we provided engineering design, bidding, and construction administration services for emergency electrical repairs.

For the study, BCC requested assessment of its existing campus electrical distribution, including: underground 5kV distribution, the battery system for the main 5kV switchgear, 5kV switches, dry-type transformers, main secondary switchgear, and automatic transfer switches. During the study phase it was determined that several aspects presented life safety issues and required emergency repairs. We assisted the school with attaining authorization from DCAMM and provided emergency electrical repair design. For this phase of work, we prepared schematic and final design drawings, assisted in bidder selection, and provided construction administration services.

Construction administration services included reviewing RFIs, meetings, site visits, and drawing review.

After review of the electrical system, we prepared a written report describing the existing conditions, our evaluation, recommendations, and the estimated opinion of construction cost.
