Demolition and Repurposing of Former Risdon and Anamet Manufacturing Sites

Fuss & O’Neill provided pre-demolition consulting services to the Waterbury Development Corporation for two blighted former mills (Risdon Manufacturing and Anamet Manufacturing) located within a targeted development corridor.

Services included structural assessments, hazardous building material survey and abatement planning, structural demolition analysis, wetland and floodplain analysis, and subsurface environmental assessment.

We provided multi-disciplined services to facilitate evaluation of blighted buildings within the targeted redevelopment zone and subsequently developed demolition documents for those that were not salvageable. The work included hazardous building material survey, alternate work practice, structural assessment, environmental assessment, survey, Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) flood management certification analysis, wetland permitting, preparation of construction documents for demolition and restoration, and contractor procurement assistance. Additionally, existing below-grade tunnels connecting the buildings were reviewed and analyzed to determine their capacities to support demolition equipment.
