Deerfield River Watershed Based Plan

Fuss & O’Neill worked with the Franklin Regional Council of Governments on the development of a watershed-based plan for the Deerfield River Watershed to maintain and improve water quality and to increase climate change resiliency in the watershed.

This plan was consistent with the MassDEP watershed-based planning framework and the United States EPA criteria for a 9-Element Watershed Based Plan (WBP), while also addressing the EPA’s Healthy Watersheds initiative and climate change adaptation planning efforts in the Deerfield River watershed. This work included key technical elements of the WBP to develop cost-effective site-specific, landscape-scale, and watershed-wide restoration and protection strategies. Community and stakeholder outreach and meetings were provided to discuss project objectives, goals, and a work plan. Public forums were also conducted to obtain feedback from watershed residents.
