Daniel Webster Highway Sidewalk Improvements

Fuss & O’Neill provided the engineering, construction administration, and full-time resident engineering services for the construction of approximately 1,050 feet of sidewalk along Daniel Webster Highway, a busy north-south route.

Improvements included the installation of sidewalk and new granite curb, relocation of overhead utilities, and improvements to the existing drainage system. Coordination with utility companies to relocate three utility poles to the back of new sidewalk was a key component of this project as the project’s construction schedule was short and closer to the end of the typical construction season. The project involved a considerable amount of coordination with the abutters, utility companies, and City and State officials.

Representatives from the abutters, Buckley’s Great Steaks, were concerned about the final appearance of the sidewalks. We received their input and proposed a combination of back curb and slope grading so the character and appearance of the area was preserved.
