Fuss & O’Neill provided Connecticut DECD with environmental services to minimize unknowns. These services, along with public-private partnership teaming, have led to a significant economic development project. Our firm is providing environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and permitting services to the developer.

We performed an extensive hazardous building materials survey on the 195,000 s.f. building, where asbestos, lead-based paint, and PCBs were identified.

A large area of free phase petroleum product and widespread fill up to 20 feet thick presented environmental challenges for cleanup and redevelopment.

We provided Connecticut DECD with Phase I, II, III environmental assessments, a screening level ecological risk assessment and hazardous materials survey for the 9 acre parcel containing a 195,000 square foot building formerly used for bus repair. Remedial and abatement planning along with estimates of probable cost were performed. The reuse plan is for mixed-use commercial/office complex to include selective demolition and adaptive renovation of the existing structure. New infrastructure including parking, green space, river trail, amphitheater, and kayak launch will transform the site into a destination area.
