Fuss & O’Neill provided a structural condition assessment and renovations of a historic building in Coventry, RI.

Fuss & O’Neill preformed a building assessment for the repairs of the two failing roof monitors. The design included the reconstruction of the monitors with wood stud walls and pre-engineered wood joists. Additional repairs included strengthening two of the existing 12” by 14” roof beams that were sagging several inches and installing supplemental columns beneath several of the 12” by 14” roof beams that have long spans between supports. Strengthening the two beams was accomplished with new steel columns at each end with a new steel beam spanning between. Additional support of the existing timber beams was provided by three posts seated on the new steel beams below.
