Airline Hop River Trail Extension

The Town of Windham lies at the crossroads of two recreational trails: the Airline State Park Trail and the Hop River State Park Trail. The Town selected Fuss & O’Neill to help close the gap between these two greenways.

Some of the unique features of the project included innovative structural solutions to minimize permitting hurdles and the coordination between the town and the
Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum.

Key components characterizing this project were the rehabilitation of an abandoned railroad bridge, implementation of Flood Plain Management BMPs, a canoe launch, enhanced river vistas, and naturalistic rest areas. Fuss & O’Neill provided construction inspection services for this $1.5M project.
