The Great Pyramid of Giza is nearly perfectly square. And I’m guessing the computers from 2700 BC were not quite up to what we have today…
So who do we have to thank for this marvel of engineering? Land surveyors.
Here at Fuss & O’Neill, we’re not going to take credit for genius Egyptian work of long ago; however, much like this amazing feat of engineering, we also have our roots in land surveying. We were founded in 1924 as a survey practice. Though we have grown over the last century to include a multitude of other services, we remain true to our survey roots. Land survey is the foundation of nearly every project. If you don’t understand the land, how can you possibly build upon it?

New England has a very diverse topography. Mountains, beaches, valleys, highlands, lowlands…we’re a microcosm of the globe. It takes adventurous and knowledgeable people to brave our harsh landscapes – especially this time of year! When Hayden Griswold, Sr. founded this company, I’m sure he could not have envisioned both the staff size and the equipment we have today. Three offices house our considerable staff and the tools they bring out into the field each day are cutting edge.
Throughout this week we’re going to delve deeper into these topics. Why? Because it’s National Land Surveyors Week! We’ll be celebrating the people, the technology, and the ingenuity that go into this foundational field. So as you’re going about your lives this week, whether grocery shopping, working out, or binge watching from your couch, send a nod of thanks to the land surveyor that made that grocery store, gym, and even your home possible.
Happy Land Surveyors Week!
