Springfield’s roundabout project in Six Corners wins prestigious state engineering award

SPRINGFIELD — A $4.2 million roundabout constructed in the Six Corners area, which has drawn cheers from residents and city officials for improving a highly hazardous six-way intersection, has won a prestigious state engineering award.

City officials announced on Friday that the city’s Department of Public Works and project designer Fuss & O’Neill of Springfield, have been awarded the 2021 Silver Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Massachusetts for design of the Six Corners Roundabout for its ”unique and innovative” design, city officials said.
