Ninigret Salt Marsh Restoration Project Recognized

The Ninigret Salt Marsh Restoration Project has been awarded an Environmental Excellence Award in the Mitigation or Adaptation to Climate Change category at the Western Dredging Association conference in Norfolk, VA.

This project was led by the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council and completed by dredging and restoration contractor JF Brennan from its regional office in Braintree, MA. Fuss & O’Neill was recognized for its contributions to this project, along with the Town of Charlestown and Save The Bay. CRMC and Brennan were present to accept the award on behalf of our team.

Fuss & O’Neill is currently helping CRMC with design. permitting and bidding for a similar dredging and thin layer deposition salt marsh restoration project at Quonochontaug Pond immediately to the west in Charlestown. An associated project for The Nature Conservancy will entail some improvements to the public boat launch at the pond’s breachway after dredging is completed. Ken Sullenger and Derek Newhall are doing a great job leading the charge on these projects, and we all look forward to construction starting in November 2018!
