Fuss & O’Neill Welcomes Elsa Loehmann, PE

Manchester, CT – Elsa Loehmann, PE has joined civil and environmental engineering firm
Fuss & O’Neill as an Associate in the Water and Natural Resources Business Line. In her new position, Elsa will lead the firm’s South Region Water Resources Practice, furthering and promoting climate resilience through stormwater management, dam safety, stream restoration, fish passage, and floodplain management services. The Water Resources Practice protects New England’s waterways, watercourses, and the land, species, and habitats of the surrounding areas.

Ms. Loehmann is an engineer and fluvial geomorphologist with experience throughout New England. She holds a BS and MS in civil engineering from Montana State University and was most recently an independent watershed consultant. Ms. Loehmann specializes in water resources management, stream restoration, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, and ecological restoration design. She has a passion for climate adaptation and resiliency, as evidenced by her work on living shoreline, aquatic habitat restoration, flood control, and green infrastructure projects. She has collaborated on numerous award-winning designs, including the Meriden, CT hub channel (ACEC National 2018 Engineering Excellence Award) and Town Brook dam removals and river restoration in Plymouth, MA (2018 Coastal America Spirit Award. Ms. Loehmann volunteers her expertise, serving in an advisory role for the Resilient Connecticut Collaborative (UConn CIRCA), as Vice President for the Cheshire Land Trust, and she sits on the Boards of Directors for the Southwest Conservation District and the Mill River Watershed Association.

Ms. Loehmann will report to Kurt Mailman, PE, who welcomes Elsa to the team, noting: “Ms. Loehmann is a well-respected member of the water resources community. Her passion for conservation and sustainability is evident in both her existing work and her approach to design. I’m excited to see how she advances our department.”

Ms. Loehmann will work out of the firm’s Manchester, CT office, and will work on projects throughout the Northeast, protecting and preserving the natural landscapes of New England.
