Fuss & O’Neill Senior Staff Members Receive WEDG Certification

Manchester, CT – Three senior staff members at civil and environmental engineering firm Fuss & O’Neill have achieved WEDG®1 (Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines), a program of the Waterfront Alliance, certification. As WEDG Associates, Diane Mas, PhD, REHS/RS, Arnold Robinson, AICP, NCI, and Deborah Denfeld, PE, CHMM, CET will put into practice waterfront designs that are resilient, accessible, and ecologically sound.

Waterfront Alliance’s goal of a resilient 2050+ is in line with Fuss & O’Neill’s commitment to implementing resilient design whenever practical. Diane Mas is not only newly certified, she is also Fuss & O’Neill’s Chief Resilience Officer. She notes:

The WEDG Professionals course gave me useful tools to provide a holistic approach to our work in planning, design, and engineering in waterfront areas, including incorporating resilience and minimizing exposure to current and future climate hazards.”

WEDG certification brings access to a nationwide resources. The program administers project review, professional education, and community engagement, with the aim of reducing risk, streamlining permitting review, and fostering relationships between landowners and community members. These resources and knowledge will be passed on to Fuss & O’Neill’s clients, creating more resilient businesses and communities throughout New England.
