Fuss & O’Neill was hired by Papa’s Dodge to assist with the remediation of a parcel of land in New Britain, CT. The site’s convenient location was desirable, but environmental issues associated with former occupation by a manufacturing facility stalled the project.
Our team developed a cost-effective solution to address the site’s environmental liabilities. Our experts performed LEP oversight services and Phase III investigations, developed remedial design, and performed construction oversight.
We worked with the current site owner, CT DEEP, and Papa’s Dodge to secure approval for the use of a permeable and impermeable engineered control. This control addressed the presence of urban fill, the site’s largest environmental liability, allowing the parties to reach an agreement and transfer the property.
The control was designed within the context of the site’s overall development scheme, and construction activities were completed at the time of re-development, limiting project costs.
