Fuss & O’Neill was hired by the City of Pawtucket, RI to provide inspection and design services for the western embankment wall along the Seekonk/Blackstone River which had been damaged during flooding.
Engineers inspected and evaluated over 3,000 linear feet of embankment wall, and designed the reconstruction of a failed section. The design stabilized compromised sections of the wall, while allowing reconstruction work to be completed out of the river, and avoiding a potentially lengthy permit process.
Fuss & O’Neill completed the design in three weeks to avoid further collapse of the wall, and improved site conditions to prolong the life of the repaired structure. In addition to restoring the wall’s structural integrity, engineers identified sections that may need future repair and reconstruction.
