This toilet paper manufacturer was experiencing a significant amount of residual dust and fibers from their winding and slitting process. Fuss & O’Neill Manufacturing Solutions was retained to lead a two-day focused Kaizen event related to controlling liberation of dusts/fibers into the work environment and manufacturing equipment.
A focused Kaizen was conducted with key production and maintenance personnel to assess and develop a plan to reduce residual dust/fiber release from the manufacturing process. A review of the Kaizen process was conducted and the goals of process improvement were performed with site management. The team identified key locations where fiber/dust generation was the greatest and designed a collection plan to include mechanical ventilation and equipment guarding. A cleaning procedure was also developed as part of establishing basic conditions.
