Climate Resiliency Assessment, Newport Public Water Supplies

The North and South Easton Pond Dams, which are critical public water supplies, are located directly on the Newport shoreline. Fuss & O’Neill completed a study to provide a climate change resiliency assessment and to identify potential alternatives to improve the resiliency of this water supply infrastructure.

We completed this study with the assistance of Woods Hole Group, which assessed coastal sea-level rise and storm surge projections. This study included:

  • Climate change assessment for North and South Easton Pond Dams to assess their vulnerability to projected seal level rise and intensifying coastal storms.
  • Probabilistic modeling of future storm impacts to better understand risk to critical infrastructure.
  • Feasibility study of potential alternatives to improve the resilience of these public water supplies.
