Fuss & O’Neill was contracted by the Town of Belmont and the Belmont Light Department to permit, design, and construct a new 115kV to 13.8kV step-down substation and a 115 kV looped transmission line interconnection with the regional utility.

We provided Licensed Site Professional (LSP) and engineering services, including pre-acquisition due diligence, to the proposed underground transmission facility location along the Cambridge and Belmont MBTA corridor.

We coordinated with a complex multi-party project team including MBTA, MBCR, and DCR and provided key support during the project design to develop buildable concepts. Our other engineering services included civil, site design, stormwater management, structural, building material assessment, and a broad range of tasks to support the complex multi-faceted permitting process.

Our budget and schedule management ensured efficiency of submittals, and allowed the substation to be constructed in a timely manner.
