Medical Center Boiler MACT Study

Fuss & O’Neill provided consulting services relative to performing an energy assessment of the Baystate Medical Center. The energy assessment was performed in accordance with the requirements of 40 CFR Part 63 Subpart JJJJJJ (Area Source Boiler MACT). The intent of the assessment was to reduce the emissions of hazardous air pollutants by improving the energy efficiencies of the six boiler systems at the facility.

The deliverables for this project consisted of a report of our findings, in accordance with the requirements of the Area Source Boiler MACT rule. Savings opportunities included repairs of leaking steam traps and recovering the waste heat from the boilers’ continuous top blowdown.
