Fuss & O’Neill performed planning and design services for a boat launch facility purchased by CTDEEP.

We prepared alternative designs for auto and boat trailer parking configurations and provided design guidance for a rode system of anchorage of new docks and boat slips. The parking lot design was a fast track project to allow work to be completed before commencement of boating season. Helical anchors and elastic rodes were designed to anchor the docks, allowing maximum perimeter access for boats to the docks, by eliminating the need for pilings.

As this project progressed, upgrades were included, including access and portable toilets to meet ADA requirements. We designed an accessible “no gangway” floating dock system, the new DEEP boating facility standard. The floating dock system is 60’ long x 8’ wide, secured landward with a cast-in-place concrete pier, and waterward with a helix type anchoring system.

Fast track performance-based design allowed the completion of marina construction in time for the beginning of boating season at this popular state-owned facility.
