3 Residence Abatement, Demo and Remediation

Providence Water has maintained a progressive watershed protection program in the communities surrounding the Scituate and smaller tributary reservoirs. Part of this program involves the acquisition and clean up of properties in the watershed that pose an ongoing risk of degradation of the water supply. Fuss & O’Neill has assisted Providence Water in this plan since 1999.

In 2015-2016, we assisted Providence Water in the assessment, acquisition and clean up of 3 residential properties in Scituate and Johnston. The clean up strategy involved initial pre-acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition asbestos and lead paint assessment, abatement plan preparation, contaminated soil remediation, construction administration, and site restoration. Multiple on-site buildings, some of which were deemed unsafe for entry, were abated of asbestos, demolished and removed form the properties. One site required soil remediation, consisting of soil capping and access restrictions.
