Newtown Town Offices

Fuss & O’Neill was contracted to provide structural engineering services for the conversion of a historic kitchen and dining facility into updated town offices. The building posed a unique challenge due to its steel truss roof, attic framing, and the absence of interior columns.

To address this challenge, our team analyzed and designed strengthening measures for the existing steel trusses providing support for new air handling units in the attic. We also designed structural framing for a new vault, a new stormwater drainage system, and repairs to the existing concrete floor system.

We prepared a site demolition plan that permitted access to adjacent buildings during the construction period, as well as an erosion control plan to control runoff during construction activities.
