Fuss & O’Neill assisted Middlesex Hospital with the planning, permitting, and installation of two megawatt natural-gas fired Cummins Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engines.

Our team successfully prepared a new source review (NSR) permit application for the CHP engine, which included a detailed best available control technology evaluation for emission controls. We addressed siting council requirements, and prepared ameasurement & verification plan for the hospital’s use in obtaining renewal energy credits for operating the CHP system.

The NSR permit for the engines was issued in less than five months after submission of the application, and once completed, the CHP system will significantly reduce fuel oil and electricity use by the Hospital.
