Jefferson Hilton Garden Inn

Fuss & O’Neill was hired as the civil and environmental engineering consultant for a $50 million hotel development at the site of a former foundry. We conducted extensive environmental investigation and site remediation, as well as overall site design and permitting services.

We obtained RIDEM approval for on-site recycling of contaminated soil and concrete as an alternative to more costly off-site disposal. After the Fuss & O’Neill team conducted bio-remediation injections to address contaminated groundwater, we were able to use a soil-vapor barrier and soil vapor extraction remediation system in the new building, expediting site investigation report approval.

In addition to choosing cost-effective solutions for our client, we provided support for their brownfield financing package application.

The hotel was the first project to be approved in the Warwick Intermodal Transportation Zone by the Warwick Station Redevelopment Authority, and is viewed as the catalyst to promote future development in the area.
