Data Center Expansion

Fuss & O’Neill was the structural engineer of record for a 40,000 square foot, four-story addition to a 100,000 square foot Data Center containing sensitive electrical equipment.

Our engineers developed framing and foundation systems for a floor live load capacity of 400 pounds per square foot, and used pressure-injected-footings for the foundation constructed on soft clay. We designed strengthening measures so the existing concrete floors could support vibration-sensitive equipment. Our engineers also developed a lateral force resisting system for the Tier III facility to protect against 200-mph winds and seismic forces.

In addition to the design, the Fuss & O’Neill team managed bidder and contractor requirements, reviewed submittals, coordinated geotechnical and lab services, performed field inspections, and prepared progress reports.

Not only did Fuss & O’Neill follow stringent design requirements, but we provided coordination and oversight that allowed the client to focus on other aspects of the renovation.
