Bolton Lakes Sewer Design

Fuss & O’Neill provided project oversight for all aspects of the Bolton Lakes sewer pipe design, installation and roadway reconstruction project, including the easement acquisition of 385 grinder pumps.

Aerial photogrammetry, field observations, and GIS data provided comprehensive mapping for the project. Horizontal Directional Drilling pipe installation for select portions of gravity and low pressure sewers proved to be minimally invasive and cost effective. The Polyethylene fusible pipe decreased the risk of costly pipe leaks, therefore enhancing environmental benefits to the local watershed.

Since the work zone accommodated an estimated 20,000 vehicles per day, Fuss & O’Neill coordinated extensively with the CT DOT and local traffic authorities. Liberal staffing of traffic control personnel, monitoring of sign patterns, and intermittent use of road detours kept traffic moving safely.

The lake area project promotes long term viability through innovate sewer design.
