As part of our structural engineering group, we provide bridge engineering services to municipalities, state agencies, architects, industrial, and private clients for vehicular, pedestrian, and railroad bridge projects. Projects range from inspection and evaluation of existing structures to the design of bridge repairs, rehabilitations, replacements, and new structures.
Our engineering and scientific professionals work together in developing coastal resiliency solutions to combat climate change, sea-level rise, and storm surge. They carefully assess areas of vulnerability, both in an immediate sense, as well as future planning. Coastal protection and flood management solutions may include, but are not limited to, structural alternatives, adaptable and modular engineering concepts, flood proofing, bioengineered technology, green infrastructures, and flow control structures. Community Outreach is an important part of what we do. We understand that in order for a project to be successful, we must also reach out to the various stakeholders to build consensus and ensure that all possible concerns are addressed. We focus on clear communication and collaboration throughout a project and have extensive experience in organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and charrettes.
Our Design Build team has the experience and technical expertise to provide construction management for a large range of multi-discipline projects, successfully taking each project from concept to completion. To meet each client’s unique needs, we can draw from our trusted network of subcontractors, or partner with a team assembled by the owner of the project. We have the flexibility to work on a percentage basis and, if requested, can provide a project’s Gross Maximum Price.
Dam Safety Engineering

Decentralized Wastewater Systems
It has become increasingly costly to provide public sewers to rural areas on a per capita basis. In many areas, decentralized wastewater management serves as an alternative to the “Big Pipe” solution. Offering a non-biased approach to wastewater management, we provide on-site, cluster, and community solutions, with or without nutrient removal, tailored to meet the socioeconomic and environmental needs of our clients.
Ecological and Wetland Services
Our staff scientists conduct ecological and wetland assessments and evaluations, wetland and watercourse delineations, and vegetation and ecological surveys.
Environmental Impact Assessment
We have experience in environmental documentation for a variety of projects in institutional, suburban, and urban settings for actions as diverse as affordable housing renovation, roadway extension, and coastal beach nourishment. Our team is able to provide the expertise necessary to evaluate existing conditions and potential impacts to natural resources, infrastructure, and cultural resources, as well as socioeconomic and environmental justice issues.

Intelligent Transportation Systems
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) encompass a broad range of information and communications technologies that improve the safety, efficiency, and performance of transportation systems. When integrated into our roadways, vehicles and public transportation network, ITS can help reduce congestion, improve mobility, save lives and optimize our existing infrastructure. Our services include coordinated signal systems, design of operations centers, variable message signs, CCTV and video detection, wireless and fiber communication technologies, and smart parking systems.
Building upon 90 years of land surveying records and maps, we support both clients and other groups within our company. We use state of the art equipment, such as robotic total stations and virtual reference GPS systems, to provide property boundary surveys, control network preparation, ALTA/ACSM surveys, topographic and utility surveys, and construction stake-out services.

Roadway and Safety Design
Through our vast experience on hundreds of roadway projects throughout Southern New England, we have a great deal of expertise in roadway geometry, drainage, traffic signal design, traffic calming, and context-sensitive design techniques from initial preliminary design stages through construction support. Transportation Engineering & Permitting

Wastewater Management Systems
We provide planning, design, and construction services for wastewater solutions ranging from decentralized management to conventional collection and treatment systems. Our collection system experience includes gravity and low pressure sewer design, I/I evaluations, and pump station evaluations and upgrades. We design treatment plant upgrades to provide better energy efficiency, nutrient removal and capacity expansion. Our team has been instrumental in securing grants and loans for client projects, and helps communities to establish regulations and better manage their wastewater infrastructure.
Water Distribution Systems
Water distribution systems are composed of storage tanks, valves, pumps, and pipes that transport clean and potable water to consumers. We analyze and design water mains, water storage tanks, and booster pumping stations, and our multi-disciplinary team provides the mechanical, electrical, and control expertise to clients building new or improving the efficiency of existing water infrastructure.
Water Quality Planning and Management

Watershed Management Planning
The watershed approach to planning uses a series of cooperative, iterative steps to characterize existing conditions, identify and prioritize problems, define objectives, develop protection or remediation strategies, and implement and adapt selected actions as necessary. The outcomes of this process are documented in a watershed plan. We use a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to develop holistic plans of watersheds.
