Life Safety

Our fire alarm designs include addressable and wireless fire alarm systems and devices. We have designed campus wide, networked systems.  In our design process, we determine system suitability and sustainability related to site and cost estimates. We evaluate using appropriate building and fire codes to determine building classification in order to establish general requirements for initiation, notification and controls required of the fire alarm system.
  • Initiation includes manual pull stations, automatic detection such as smoke and heat detectors, beam smoke detectors, duct smoke detectors and initiation and supervisory signals from other systems such as sprinklers, fire pumps, kitchen hoods and generators.
  • Designs include appropriate interfaces with mechanical equipment, elevator recall and shunt trip, municipal dispatchers, annunciator and fireman's voice evacuation control panels, and specialty fire suppression systems.
  • Notification design includes horn/strobes, interface to fire department or central station, digital dialers and voice evacuation.
  • Control functions can include HVAC shut down, public address shut down, and release of magnetic door holders, stage vents, smoke dampers, active smoke control and elevator recall.

We provide foresight to the protection of the devices and the environments they are in such as explosion proof situations or weather. Consideration is also given to the aesthetics of the system including but not limited to the wiring methodology so that the system meets its intended Life Safety function and is also designed with the building features being of primary concern.
