Land Development

Development today is undergoing a major transformation. In order to be successful, the built environment must easily integrate and become part of the natural environment in a sustainable, functional, economically feasible, and aesthetically pleasing manner.

Fuss & O'Neill's first land development projects were relatively simple subdivisions and small commercial developments. Today, we have grown to provide Low Impact Design (LID) and sustainable design services for some of the largest brownfield and greenfield land development and redevelopment projects in the region. Our experience has taught us to determine the overall vision and goals of a project, and has laid a foundation for developing innovative solutions to these challenges.

Land development engineering requires integration of many specialties to navigate today’s complex regulatory world. As part of our land development projects, we evaluate existing utility infrastructure systems, integrate into the surrounding transportation systems, find solutions to complex storm water treatment problems, and develop sustainable, environmentally compatible and economically feasible designs.

Our team includes experts in utility infrastructure, sustainability, traditional neighborhood design, new urbanism, transit oriented design, and brownfield redevelopment. Our extensive knowledge and experience helps identify potential issues or cost impacts early in the design when they can still be effectively mitigated.

Master Planning

The collaborative integration of various design disciplines results in projects which balance all aspects of development. We use a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to develop holistic master plans. Diverse expertise, collaboration, and sometimes passionate debate are required to explore and properly weigh the considerations and factors which often exist in tension with one another.
